Frustration grows as Rewa Street residents face water issues since June

Residents of Rewa Street are calling for urgent action as they have been facing water supply issues since June.

They say the situation has caused frustration and serious challenges in their daily lives.

48-year-old Helen Singh told fijivillage News that the issue has made life difficult for her family and others in the area.

She says they hardly have water and have to collect it from the corner of the street, and in the house, there is only one place in the bathroom where they can get water.

Singh says it is very sad, especially when they are paying so much rent and families who are renting, cannot install water tanks to ease the problem.

She says they have tried all ways to fix this, but nothing has been done.

She adds that all they hear are promises, but they are still suffering.

Singh says the water problem has made simple tasks like cooking, cleaning and sending children to school very hard.

She says families have been forced to rely on rainwater or buy bottled water, which adds to their expenses.

Singh urges the authorities to act immediately because this is not a small matter, as it’s been going on for almost 6 months straight.

We have sent questions to the Water Authority of Fiji, and they are yet to respond.
