The Frank Hilton Organisation aims to collect $300,000 during the Amazing Wheelbarrow Race 2024, which will be held on the 20th of July at Albert Park in Suva.

22 teams have confirmed their participation, and according to the CEO, Sureni Perera, they hope to register about 30 teams on the day of the race.

She says this year’s race will be a fun-filled event.

Perera says they started this fundraising in 2016 when they had only 14 teams, and the response from corporations and individuals was huge.

The CEO adds that they are also really touched by the response of teams even before they announce the race and this shows their commitment to children living with disabilities in the country.

Frank Hilton Board member Anne Dunn says the Frank Hilton Organisation is known as an innovative and bold agency, and its vision is to create a centre of excellence.

She says this organization strongly advocates at the highest level for the voices of children and their families to be represented, heard and acknowledged.

Dunn says the Organisation has three pillars which are evidence-based service delivery, building on its local capacity and collaborating and supporting sectors of education, health and social services.

She adds all three pillars are interdependent and complement each other. Dunn says the Frank Hilton Organisation was the first to have specialized pediatric, mobility device service, and speech pathology departments.

She says they are also going to set up the first psychology assessment and learning support services in the country, which will be announced later.

Dunn says last year, they had raised over $250,000, where the physical race brought in $171,000 and the virtual race raised $81,000.

She hopes that more people will be engaged in this fundraising to create more awareness and also provide better services to those children under the care of the Frank Hilton Organization.

People can join the Amazing Wheelbarrow Race 2024 in three ways: - The Physical Race: entry is at $5,000. A corporate team or any team are able to form 8 members and compete in the physical race on the 20th of July to push their wheelbarrow around the park.

- the vVund Viti Levu. A team can download the Amazing Wheelbarrow Race, which will be available on the 16th of May. No financial fee to sign up and for every kilometre, it will cost $10.

- Both Physical and Virtual Race.
