Despite the challenges of working in a male-dominated field, Navatu, Cakaudrove woman Frances Tuinasakea Masaurua did not let that deter her spirits and spoil her focus on achieving her goal of graduating with a Diploma in Nautical Science at the Fiji National University.
While speaking to fijivillage News after the FNU graduation ceremony, Masaurua says the last five years of her studies were filled with a lot of challenges which she managed to overcome.
Masaurua was one of only five graduates from the program and says being away from her family for long periods is also another challenge that she tried to overcome.
The former Suva Grammar School student is now encouraging students to stay focused and committed to achieving their dreams.
