Four in custody after found with money box allegedly stolen from Vatukoula Gold Mine

Four men are in Police custody after they were found with a money box allegedly stolen from Vatukoula Gold Mine.

Police say the four men were acting suspiciously as they approached a snap checkpoint near Sabeto yesterday morning.

Police officers at the checkpoint conducted checks and found items alleged to have been stolen.

Police say the four were taken back to the Vatukoula Police Station where they are currently being questioned regarding their alleged involvement in other thefts.

Meanwhile, two men in their 20s were arrested at the Suva Bus Stand on Saturday as they were found with assorted items allegedly stolen from a canteen located at the Lautoka Bus Stand.

Police say officers on beat patrol noticed the two acting in a suspicious manner and upon searching the two suspects bags, they found several packets of cigarettes, lighters and cash.

The two were taken back to Lautoka Police Station where they are being questioned.
