Four Corrections Officers charged in relation to the death of remand prisoner Jone Masirewa have been remanded in custody by the Lautoka Magistrates Court.

54-year-old Onisimo Raboiliku and 19-year-old Semesa Bulikalougata are each charged with one count of murder while 36-year-old Navitalai Kanavo and 21 year old Suliasi Tubuna are charged with assault causing actual bodily harm.

Police say Masirewa died after he fell ill while in remand at the Natabua Corrections Facility in Lautoka.

Masirewa who was in his 30’s was charged with burglary.

The four Corrections Officers will appear again on the 4th of next month.
