Former Fiji Police Commissioner Esala Teleni

Former Fiji Police Commissioner Esala Teleni passed away last night.

While officiating at the Fiji Rugby Awards at the Grand Pacific Hotel, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama stated that the former Flying Fijians captain passed away last night.

Bainimarama says Teleni was a person who not only did well in sports but also in leadership.

Captain Esala Teleni was a Fijian naval officer, who served as the Commissioner of the Fiji Police Force from 1st July 2007 to mid-2010. He then served as Fiji's Ambassador to China till 2014.

Teleni was a Fiji rugby player, captain and coach in the 1980s, playing in the position of number eight.
