The Highlanders have kept their Super Rugby Pacific season alive, and given Aaron Smith a dream Dunedin farewell with a dramatic 35-30 victory over the Reds last night.

Down 28-30 in the final seconds, replacement halfback Folau Fakatava stole the show for the Highlanders, giving an eye to the franchise's future on a night that said goodbye to one of their greats.

The victory moves the Highlanders up to eighth on the Super Rugby table, leapfrogging Western Force into the final playoff spot.

In another match last night, the Melbourne Rebels beat the Western Force 52-14.

Looking at matches today, the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua play the Moana Pasifika at 2.05pm in Lautoka. The Crusaders face the Waratahs at 4.35pm, the Blues battle the Hurricanes at 7.05pm while the Brumbies face the Chiefs at 9.35 tonight.
