The FIJI Water Flying Fijians are training far from the comfort of sea level, in the Mile High City of Denver as they prepare to face Canada in the Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup semi-final.
Fiji Rugby says at 5,280 feet above sea level, the air is thinner, the lungs burn quicker, and every sprint, tackle and breath takes more effort.
They say there are no easy days at this level and in Denver, it's even tougher as they are training in one of the most demanding environments in world rugby.
Fiji Rugby says the team is digging deep, pushing past the pain, not just for themselves, but for every Fijian who believes in them.
They add this is more than preparation, it’s about pride, resilience, and heart and they are not just training, they are building for something greater.
The Flying Fijians take on Canada at 12.35pm on Monday at DSG Park in Colorado.
On Monday, Samoa takes on the USA at 6.35am in the fifth place play off, while Tonga faces Japan at 9.35am in the other semi final.
