Heavy Rain Warning in effect for northern and eastern Fiji, easing to showers later today

A Flash Flood Warning that was previously in force for low-lying and flood-prone areas in the southern and eastern parts of Viti Levu from Serua-Namosi, Suva-Nausori, Tailevu and Nalawa in Ra, as well as the interior of Naitasiri has been downgraded to a Flash Flood Alert.

A Flash Flood Warning for the whole of Vanua Levu has also been downgraded to a Flash Flood Alert.

The Nadi Weather Office says the Flash Flood Alert that was previously in force for the western half of Viti Levu from Rakiraki, Ba, Nadi and Sigatoka, including their interior areas has also been cancelled.

They say an active trough of low pressure remains over the northern and eastern parts of Fiji and is gradually moving eastwards.

The Weather Office says a Heavy Rain Warning remains in force for northern and eastern parts of Fiji.

Forecast for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group with Occasional to periods of heavy rain and few thunderstorms.

Rain gradually easing to showers from later today.

The Weather Office says likely impacts include flooding of drains, small streams, low-water bridges, Irish crossings, roads and properties in low-lying areas.
