Fixing to get a short term gain cannot be justified by our long term pain – Dr Fong

We need to be sure on the way tobacco is promoted, it has to be understood that fixing to get a short term gain, cannot be justified by our long term pain.

Permanent Secretary for Health, Dr James Fong highlighted this at the World No Tobacco Day 2023 saying their job at the Ministry of Health is to make sure that the health agenda remains part of the discussion point and part of the consideration.

The Permanent Secretary also says the long term pain must be acknowledged in advance.

Dr Fong also says indulging in unhealthy practices will lead to a less than productive population, eventually.

He further says part of their awareness programs is to make the population aware that sustaining a bad habit will not be good in the long run for the population of Fiji.

Dr Fong says this will include having workshops and awareness campaigns in schools.
