The UN and the Government of Fiji are committed to working together to achieve the national development priorities, the Sustainable Development Goals, and other internationally agreed development goals and treaty obligations.

This was highlighted by UN Resident Coordinator to Fiji, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu, Sanaka Samarasinha while meeting partners from civil society and the international development sector to discuss country implementation plans for Fiji’s development priorities as identified by key members of government, civil society, and development partners.

The UN says with representatives from various civil society, and development partners from numerous embassies and high commissions, it was an important opportunity to discuss ways to work with the Fiji Government to implement development plans and priorities over the next five years.

They say they look forward to continuing its partnership with Fiji to ensure all people are equal and free to exercise their fundamental rights, enjoy gender equality and peace, remain resilient to existential threats, and live in harmony with the blue continent.
