It had been the best four years of my life and I never dreamt that my first trip to Fiji was to come and bury the love of my life.

These were the sentiments shared by Ilona Valette, the fiance of the late Olympian Josaia Raisuqe.

Raisuqe and his fiance Valette had plans of building their own house and she recalls all the moments she spent with him discussing about their future plans.

Valette says her life with Raisuqe was the best memory she will hold dear, with all the laughter and care he showed her.

She says her first visit to his homeland came in the saddest way possible and she reminded herself that such is life and she has to be strong.

Valette says they were building a life in France together and he will always hold a special place in her heart.

She says her life with Raisuqe was full of love and happiness and it was the best four years of her life.

Raisuqe will be buried tomorrow in his village in Lutu, Naitasiri.
