A fire broke out at the Rarawai Sugar Mill in Ba at around 11:30am today, triggering a rapid emergency response from the National Fire Authority.
The Ministry of Sugar Industry and Multi-Ethnic Affairs says according to preliminary reports, the blaze is believed to have originated in the mill’s powerhouse.
Firefighters are currently on site, working urgently to bring the fire under control and stop it from spreading to other parts of the facility.
Authorities have assured the public that the safety of workers and all individuals at the site remains the highest priority. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
