The Shreedhar Motors coachwork factory was completely destroyed in a fire at Wailada Industrial Subdivision, Lami last night.

NFA fire investigators are working closely with the Fiji Police Force forensics department to identify the probable cause of the fire.

NFA says the National Command Centre received a call on their emergency line at 9.30pm after which a team was directed at the scene.

They say the Energy Fiji Limited was notified to shut down power while the Water Authority of Fiji was asked to boost supply to a nearby fire hydrant.

NFA says there were no injuries at the scene.

The Chief Executive Officer of NFA, Puamau Sowane, expresses concern over the rising number of property fires.

Sowane says from January until the end of June this year there were 69 structural and property fires compared to 54 for the same period last year.

He is asking business owners to ensure the safety of those who live or work in these properties.
