President Jioji Konrote says Fiji’s truly patriotic whole of nation effort helped Fiji contain the COVID-19 virus.

While opening the 2020-2021 Parliament Session this morning, Konrote says it has been more than 220 days since the last case of COVID-19 amongst the public and together we potentially saved thousands of Fijian lives.

Konrote says Fijians celebrated Fiji’s 50 years of independence in good health and in good spirit.

He says it is a testament as to what we can achieve when we put our nation first.

He told parliament that we should remain vigilant.

The President also paid tribute to the front line workers such as the medical staff and the disciplined forces.
