Health Minister Doctor Ifereimi Waqainabete

Health Minister Doctor Ifereimi Waqainabete says all the Fiji citizens or Fijian passport holders returning in evacuation flights to the country will be required to go into self-isolation at a Fijian Government-mandated facility for 14 days.

Doctor Waqainabete stresses that there is no self-isolation at their home for these citizens returning to Fiji as the Health Ministry wants to ensure that these people stay at a government-mandated facility until they are given the all clear.

He says these people are not allowed to go to their homes when they land in the country.

Doctor Waqainabete also says that the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama led cabinet is taking everything into consideration after advice from the medical experts, and the policy advice ensures the people of Fiji are well protected.

Fiji Airways Evacuation Flight

Fiji Airways has confirmed an evacuation flight for New Zealanders in Fiji wishing to return to Auckland, and Fijians in New Zealand wishing to return home.

The national airline company says the evacuation services will operate on Friday 17th April 2020.

Guests holding unused Fiji Airways’ tickets for Nadi-Auckland or Auckland-Nadi flights are also able to book themselves on the evacuation flight at no additional cost by contacting Fiji Airways Reservations with their booking reference details at hand. Limited seats are available on all evacuation flights.

All Auckland to Nadi flight guests are advised that only Fiji citizens (Fijian passport holders) are able to enter Fiji at this time.

Fiji Airways says all arriving guests on these flights will be required to go into self-isolation at a Fijian Government-mandated facility for 14-days. They will be unable to go to their homes or residences. The company says as per the directive of authorities, transit passengers cannot be uplifted on evacuation flights to Fiji.
