Residents in the greater Nasinu and Nausori areas turned up in numbers at active COVID vaccination stations yesterday.

The Health Ministry says it recorded a high uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Kinoya resident Nasoni Vono says the long queue and the wait was worth it.

He says getting the jab is not a bad thing as some were saying and this is actually the beginning of good things to come as a vaccinated nation will open doors and allow for free travel.

Officials were on hand to ensure persons with disabilities and individuals with issues such as diabetes, hypertension, heart conditions, asthma and medical conditions were served as soon as they reached each vaccination station.

Daniele Tavere of Nakasi says diabetic patients like him are grateful for the quick service.

He says people should come out and get their jab as it will also ease the burden on the officials who are already stretched out as it is.

All eligible family members of Ashneil Prasad’s household also received their first jab yesterday.

Prasad, his sister and mother were among the many residents of Lakena No.2 Hill in Nausori who received their jab.
