Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says Fiji’s Diplomatic Mission has confirmed the safety of all Fijians in Myanmar and Thailand following a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck last Friday.

Rabuka says they are closely monitoring the situation in coordination with the relevant authorities.

He has extended his condolences to families who have lost loved ones as Fiji’s prayers and thoughts are with those who have been injured.

He says this unfortunate event has undoubtedly brought immense sorrow to many.

The Prime Minister adds that Fiji stands in solidarity with the people of Myanmar and Thailand during this difficult time, and we pray for eternal peace and rest for those who lost their lives.
