Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says Fijians are praying for the people of Ukraine and for peace.

On his official Twitter page, Sayed-Khaiyum says they are calling for an end to all hostilities and any violations of the international rule of law and urging a return to the diplomatic table, in line with the call from the UN Secretary-General.

According to Aljazeera, Russia has launched a full-scale military attack on Ukraine that opened with air and missile attacks on Ukrainian military facilities before troops and tanks rolled across the borders from the north, east and south.

The Ukrainian military has fought back on multiple fronts.

Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video address that 137 people, both servicemen and civilians, have been killed and hundreds more wounded.
