The Fijiana XV edged Samoa 24-20 to win the inaugural Oceania Rugby Women’s XV Challenge yesterday in Lawaqa Park Sigatoka.
They took an early 17-5 lead at halftime, leaving the Samoans to play catch-up rugby in the second half.
Samoa narrowed the deficit in the second half with an additional 15 points.
Fijiana stuck to their game plan and managed to hold off a strong Samoan comeback to win the championships.
