The Vodafone Fijiana XV will be aiming to finish their Women’s Rugby World Cup campaign on a high note, despite being out of contention for the knockout stages.
The Fijiana are out after losing two of their pool matches; they lost to Canada 65-7 last Sunday, and they went down to Scotland 29-15 this morning.
According to Head Coach Ioan Cunningham, if the team maintains their physicality and plays aggressively, they have every opportunity to succeed.
Cunningham says there were standout performances from Loraini Senivutu, Manuqalo Komaitai, and Karalaini Naisewa, who all scored tries for Fiji; however, a red card shown to Bitila Tawake hampered their ability to stage a strong comeback.
He says he wants to improve their starts, noting how Scotland scored just 94 seconds into their match.
Cunningham emphasized that test matches are decided by fine margins.
He concluded that the team must shake off the defeat and focus on starting stronger in their next match.
Fijiana’s attention now turns to Wales, whom they will face next Sunday at 1.45am.
