Fijiana 7s outclassed by Australia going down 31-12

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team remain winless in the HSBC Madrid 7s after they were beaten 31-12 by a classy Australian side.

Lavena Cavuru scored the lone try for Fiji in the first half.

Speedster Madison Levi scored a hattrick, while Charlotte Caslick made a brilliant line break to score five points putting Australia in the lead at half time 24-7.

Kaitlin Shave scored first for Australia in the second half.

The Fijiana managed to stage a late fightback, resulting in Younis Bese scoring in the 13th minute, but it was a little to late.

They will now face Ireland in their final pool match at 1:05 tomorrow morning.

In other matches South Africa thrashed Belgium 40-7, USA edged Canada 26-19, New Zealand beat Great Britain 49-14 and France defeated Ireland 31-5.

Meanwhile the women's cup semi finals kick off at 9:33pm tomorrow, while the cup final will be played at 5:49 Monday morning.
