The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team are focusing on three key areas, kick-offs, rucks and defence, as they prepare for the HSBC SVNS Dubai 7s this week.

Coach Richard Walker says they know Fijians are natural attackers, and they are not taking that strength away from the players.

He says the priority now is winning the ball back, defending well, and then letting the team do what they do best, which is to attack.

Walker also highlighted the importance of mental preparation, saying they want the players to express themselves, and if they are comfortable and confident, nothing can stop them.

He adds they have been building an environment where the girls feel free to be themselves, have fun, stay confident, and play with passion.

The Fijiana 7s begin their Dubai 7s campaign against the USA at 7.20pm Friday, followed by France at 9.59pm, and New Zealand at 1.27am Saturday.

The women’s semi finals will begin at 9.12pm Sunday, with the final at 3.35am Monday.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Men’s 7s team begin their campaign against Argentina at 9.10pm Saturday, before taking on South Africa at 12.16am Sunday, and France at 4.12am Sunday.

The men’s semi finals start at 10.06pm Sunday, and the final will be held at 4.11am Monday.
