Fijian Sportsmen and Sportswomen earn Fiji's global reputation for sporting excellence - PM

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says Fiji was not gifted with our global reputation for sporting excellence but it was earned by the grit ,commitment and dedication of Fijian Sportsmen and Sportswomen.

While speaking at the Fiji Sports Awards last night, Bainimarama  says  the achievement of the coaches, staff and competitors has put Fiji on the map for countless millions of fans around the world.

The Prime Minister says that sports is a universal language, means of communication that transcends differences between, societies, communities and individuals.

Bainimarama  says sports has the power to bring people together with different backgrounds and connects countries across borders.

He adds that even among the World's most important people, the talent and the competitive spirit of Fijian athletes is widely known and respected.

Bainimarama says that sports can help people make new friendships.
