The Fijian Elections Office has launched the Institute of Democracy and Electoral Education and new Digital Information Platforms aimed at strengthening the organisation’s electoral knowledge base.
Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa says the initiative focuses on identifying and addressing training needs within the FEO, developing and delivering electoral courses, securing course accreditations, building strategic academic partnerships, and supporting research on electoral best practices.
She says the establishment of IDEE involved three phases recognition, registration and accreditation which were carried out in collaboration with the Fiji Higher Education Commission.
Mataiciwa adds that the FEO’s in-house graphics and ICT teams worked together to create the IDEE logo and develop the institute’s website, which will be launched soon.
Justice Usaia Ratuvili, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, says today we are not simply launching digital platforms, but equipping every Fijian with the tools to engage, participate, and shape the future of our nation.
Justice Ratuvili says this is especially important as we approach the upcoming general election, a decisive moment that will define our collective journey forward.
He says these platforms ensure that every Fijian, whether in Suva, in our most remote islands, or living overseas, can access accurate and timely information about elections and their rights as citizens.
Ratuvili adds no voter will be left behind and every voice can be heard, every vote can count.
