The Fijian Elections Office has deferred the Fiji Nursing Association, Fiji Sugar Clerks and Staff Association and USP Staff Union national elections that were scheduled to take place in the next 14 days.

The Office says all elections are currently postponed until the restrictions imposed by the Ministry of Health are revised.

Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem says it is absolutely critical that at this time, all Fijians adhere to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and it is not practical to convene elections during this period.

He says they can always resume once the restrictions are lifted.

The Elections Office will be contacting individual trade union representative to work out the details of the new election dates as well as the timelines for the deliveries and return of ballot papers.
