Fiji has won their first gold medal in the track events at the Oceania Athletics Championship in the 4 by 400 metres open men's relay this evening at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

The Fijian quartet planned their race well as Regional Australia and Vanuatu A were trailing them from the get-go.

In the final lap, Fiji managed to maintain their momentum and finished the electrifying race to win gold for Fiji, while Regional Australia settled for silver and Vanuatu A took the bronze.

In other events, Fiji got silver in the girls under-18 4 by 400 metres to add another medal to Team Fiji’s tally.

Reki Selita Roberts won a bronze medal and a first medal for Team Fiji in the under-18 senior and women’s Heptathlon Championships with a total score of 4,143 yesterday.

The upcoming events for tomorrow will include the women's under -18 400 metres hurdles, senior men's 400 metres hurdles, under-18 women's 3000 metres, under-18 women's 100 metres, and under-18 men 100 metres to name a few.
