Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sitiveni Rabuka says Fiji stands ready to assist our neighbour, New Zealand should the need arise.

In his message of support to the people of Auckland, Rabuka says Fiji knows all too well that in times like this, people are vulnerable and need all the help they can get.

He says he wants to assure Prime Minister Chris Hipkins and the people of New Zealand that Fiji offers her support and prayers.

The Prime Minister also says the people of Fiji are ready to help in whatever little way they can.

Rabuka says he has been told the infrastructure and emergency services have been overwhelmed by the impacts of the storm, and they will not hesitate to help.

He also says he was devastated by the disastrous impact of flash flooding in Auckland, New Zealand that resulted in the loss of lives and property.

Rabuka adds he sends sincere condolences and sympathy to the Government and the people of New Zealand.

The Prime Minister says they also pray that those who have lost their homes and property will find shelter and recover from this disastrous flood.

He asks Kiwis worldwide to have hope in our God of Nation.

Rabuka adds Kia kaha, kia maia Aotearoa.

New Zealand's largest city has declared a State of Emergency after torrential rain prompted widespread flooding damaging infrastructure and residential homes.
