Fiji sets target to start strong in new HSBC SVNS season by winning Dubai 7s

With the Olympics coming up next year, the Fiji Airways National Men’s 7s side wants to kick start the new HSBC SVNS season strongly by winning the Dubai 7s next month.

Head Coach Ben Gollings says last season, they did not really have a great run and they did not win any tournament and they want to change that this year.

Gollings says they missed the beat in terms of winning tournaments last year which was what every team participating in the series was aiming for and the team has been working really hard during the off season to get a winning start in the new season.

He says everyone is excited about the new season as last season was almost like a double season coming off the back of the previous season.

In terms of the squad, Gollings says they are looking to have 95 percent of the players that played in the previous Oceania 7s tournament in the team for Dubai but it will all depend on the updates from the medical team on the players that suffered a few niggling injuries during the tournament.

The first leg of the HSBC SVNS Series 2023-2024 will be in Dubai from the 1st - 3rd of next month.
