Fiji is on the verge of reaching 80% of the first COVID-19 doses administered and the Ministry of Health confirms that they are now targeting to vaccinate over 90% of the eligible population.

465,110 eligible Fijians have received their first dose which is 79.3% while 120,451 people are fully vaccinated which is 20.5 %.

While speaking on the fijivillage Straight Talk With Vijay Narayan, Head of the Vaccination Taskforce says they have vaccines available for everyone that is 18 years and older, and people should come forward and get vaccinated.

Doctor Devi says vaccines are saving lives in Fiji although our new cases per million population per day continue to be one of the highest in the world.

She says the team continues to focus on getting all the eligible Fijians vaccinated in the Central and Western Divisions where the new cases continue to rise. However, vaccination teams are also covering other parts of Fiji as well.

You can watch the full Straight Talk interview on our website and facebook page, fijivillage at 8am tomorrow.
