Jerry Tuwai will captain an experienced Fiji men's 7s team to the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan this month with Coach Gareth Baber saying the selection is a balance between power and pace.

The team also includes Kalione Nasoko, Josua Vakurunabili, Meli Derenalagi, Iosefo Masi, Asaeli Tuivuaka, Semi Radradra, Vilimoni Botitu, Waisea Nacuqu, Napolioni Bolaca, Jiuta Wainiqolo and Aminiasi Tuimaba.

The travelling reserves are Sireli Maqala, Kitione Taliga, Joseva Talacolo and Kavekini Tabu.

Players that missed out are Livai Ikanikoda, Taniela Sadrugu, Rusiate Nasove, Kaminieli Rasaku and speedster Alasio Naduva.

Baber says Nasoko, Vakurunabili, Derenalagi and Tuivuaka will provide power upfront while Nacuqu, Bolaca together with Tuimaba will showcase the magic in the backline.

Baber says they continue to look to command the aerial battles on the field as well as developing their strength at the set-piece.

He says they have built the team and the capabilities around putting pressure on their opponents and as a result, there has been a balance in the selection of the squad to reflect this.

Radradra will join the team in Japan next week.

He is the only player that is not with the side at the moment.

The Olympic Games Rugby 7s competition will be held from the 26th to the 31st of this month.

Fiji is pooled with Great Britain, Canada and Japan. The top two teams in each pool, plus the two third-placed teams with the highest point totals will qualify for the quarterfinals.

The fixtures will be released next week.
