Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says Fiji is looking at getting industrial hemp seeds from Canada.

While informing parliament on the economic benefits of the direct Nadi/Vancouver flight, Sayed-Khaiyum says they have been informed by the UN that Canada has some of the best industrial hemp seeds.

Sayed-Khaiyum further says this opportunity to fly to Vancouver was not something that was thought overnight and they are excited about it.

He adds that this has the potential for trade and also the export of Fijian products and produce.

Sayed-Khaiyum highlighted that the current forecast is that there will be 15 tonnes of cargo per flight containing things such as vegetables, dalo, cassava, seafood and kava and they can also bring fruits and various products from Canada.
