5G Spectrum Licences have been issued to telecommunications operators, enabling them to begin offering 5G services to the public from Monday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica says the deployment of 5G addresses Fiji’s local challenges, delivers tangible benefits to our communities, and will extend beyond the capital, Suva.
He says it is being rolled out strategically and responsibly, in alignment with the Government’s national development goals and the readiness of our infrastructure.
Kamikamica says as part of the 5G rollout, parallel efforts are underway to modernise rural and maritime networks to 4G, reducing the digital divide and ensuring no community is left behind.
The Ministry says Fiji’s 5G rollout will start with Suva, Nadi, Lautoka, and Denarau this year, followed by Nasinu, Lami, Labasa, and Savusavu in 2026.
From 2027, coverage will extend to Nausori, Sigatoka, Navua, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, and Korovou, ensuring nationwide access across major economic, tourism, and regional centres.
Telecommunication Authority of Fiji, CEO Prit Chand says the issuance of 5G spectrum licences marks a historic milestone for Fiji, unlocking innovation and opportunity across the nation.
He says beyond faster connectivity, 5G can accelerate Fiji’s journey to a more connected and inclusive digital economy.

Mohammed says the government’s issuance of the 5G license and spectrum has enabled us to deploy this technology, and they are proud to contribute to the advancement of Fiji’s digital landscape and its connectivity goals. Vodafone Fiji CEO Elenoa Biukoto says they are excited to go live with the first phase of the 5G rollout and eager to collaborate with the Fiji Government and the Telecommunications Authority of Fiji to ensure a seamless 5G service for the nation.
She says having successfully completed extensive user testing with confident results, they are assured this technology will significantly benefit key industries like healthcare, tourism, agriculture, and finance by unlocking new applications and efficiencies. Telecom Fiji CEO Charles Goundar says they thank the government in facilitating the timely allocation of 5G spectrum.
He says this landmark decision will empower the nation with vastly improved connectivity, fostering innovation and accelerating our digital economy.
Goundar says ultimately, this will bring significant benefits to everyone through faster internet speeds, enhanced digital services, and greater access to opportunities.
