The Junior Bula Boys showed plenty of heart but were no match for a dominant Belgium side, losing 7-nil in their second game of the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2025.
Belgium started fast, scoring two goals in the first ten minutes and adding three more goals before half-time to lead 5–nil.
Fiji goalkeeper Melvin Prakash made several good saves to keep the scoreline from worsening.
Fiji improved in the second half, with Farhaan Khan and Sialesi Vatanatawake defending strongly.
Belgium went down to ten men after a red card, but Fiji’s Teimana Goundar was later sent off after receiving a second yellow.
Belgium scored two more goals late in the game.
Fiji will now turn their focus to their final group match, where they will face Argentina at 12.30am on Monday.
Meanwhile, in other matches, Italy defeated Bolivia 4–nil, Portugal beat Morocco 6–nil, Croatia defeated the United Arab Emirates 3–nil, and Argentina beat Tunisia 1–nil.
