The Vodafone Fiji 7s team remains undefeated but walked away from their second pool match with a 17‑all draw against Wales at the Hong Kong 7s.
Wales came out firing using their speedster Luke Morgan to score two tries in the first half while Fiji’s tries was scored by Mesulame Kunavula, Vatemo Ravouvou and Amenoni Nasilasila.
Bad decision making almost cost Fiji this match with captain Osea Kolinisau receiving a yellow card for a lifting tackle and missed the last conversion under the post which could have given them the extra two points for the win.
Wales was leading 10‑5 in the first half.
Isake Katonibau says they expected Wales to be strong and are looking forward to their last pool match against New Zealand.
Fiji will meet New Zealand at 9.12pm.
The quarter finals will start at 2.58pm tomorrow, the semifinals will start at 7.31pm while the medal final will be held at 11pm tomorrow.
Barring any upsets, Fiji is likely to meet France, Kenya or Canada in the quarterfinal, England or USA in the semifinal, South Africa or New Zealand in the final.
