Fijians urged to avoid all travel to high-risk Middle East nations amid rising tensions

Fijians are strongly advised to avoid all travel, including transit, to several high-risk countries such as the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Iran, Israel, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and Kuwait.

This was shared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade.

They say they are closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East following a temporary two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States.

The Ministry says that although this ceasefire is a positive development, the situation remains unstable and could change at any time.

They say non-essential travel to Jordan, Oman, and Saudi Arabia should also be avoided, while those traveling elsewhere are urged to exercise increased caution and remain alert.

The Ministry says travel disruptions are expected and may impact flights globally, and Fijians currently in the region are encouraged to consider leaving if it is safe to do so.

They add they will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as the situation evolves.
