Fiji can expect more economic development assistance from China after three agreements were signed by the two governments during the visit of the State Councillor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi.

China's Ambassador to Fiji, Qian Bo says Fiji has requested assistance for fertilizer because the prices are going up.

He says China has decided to provide a batch of fertilizers to Fiji.

When questioned on why the media was not allowed to ask questions after the joint statement by the Fijian Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, Bo says they are respecting the arrangement made by the Fijian side.

When the Ambassador was told that the Fijian side had said that the no question policy was from the Chinese officials, Bo says they don’t have any hidden agenda.

Bo also confirmed that no agreement has been signed about security, defence and military.
