Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says we need to have access to affordable finance to be able to build resilience in our infrastructure to be able to adapt to climatic changes.

While speaking on RN Breakfast, Sayed-Khaiyum says if you look at the amount that has been diverted in the climate change space, it has predominantly gone towards mitigation.

He says in Fiji’s case, they have already moved six villages to higher ground and there about 40 more villages that are under threat.

Sayed-Khaiyum also says a lot of people are realizing now that there is an economic sustainability sense in adopting new technology, in moving away from a large carbon footprint.

The Attorney General also says Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has given an undertaking that Fiji is targeting to go carbon neutral by 2050.

He adds it will be great to have everybody onboard for that.
