The Fiji Tourism Convention stands as a pivotal milestone in the Fijian tourism industry because it provides a platform for open discussions and planning for the future of tourism in Fiji.

The Ministry of Tourism says the outcomes of the Convention will also directly feed into the National Sustainable Tourism Framework, which is currently in its final stages.

They say the Convention is organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation and Tourism Fiji, supported by Fiji Airways, kicks off this Friday at the Shangri-La Yanuca Island.

The Ministry says 200 participants are expected, including representatives from various tourism businesses, government agencies, and a line of international and national experts sharing key insights on the trends, opportunities and plans for the Fiji tourism sector.

They say the Fiji Tourism Convention will be led under the Chairmanship of Michael Nacola, Managing Director at the Bank of the South Pacific, who brings with him several years of tourism and aviation industry experience.

They say Guest speakers include Haley Purdon, Expedia Market Director of Market Management - New Zealand & Pacific Islands, Expedia; James Wilkenson, Editor-In-Chief - HM (The Business of Accommodation in Asia-Pacific) Magazine; and Rodney Harrex, Principal Consultant at Rodney Harrex Consulting.

The Ministry says they will join other expert panelists in sharing latest tourism trends, insights into the global tourism investments and public private partnerships to grow tourism.

they say the program will also feature four panel sessions, exploring Fiji's Transport Infrastructure, navigating the hospitality landscape, understanding Tturism related policies and regulations and strategies for sustainable tourism development.

The Ministry adds these plenary sessions will be led by experts including the Permanent Secretaries, Chief Executive Officers, and Industry leaders.
