The Secondary Schools Netball Championship is back after two years due to the global pandemic, and around 133 schools will be participating in this year's competition.

Fiji Secondary Schools Netball Association President Karalaini Seruiratu says 18 zones from around Fiji will be part of the 3-day competition.

She says they are thankful to Punja and Sons Pte Limited and Netball Fiji for their continuous support in ensuring the competition goes ahead this year.

Seruiratu says Rotorua College is an invitational team from NZ who will compete in the Under 15 grade while Kadavu Zone and St Joseph’s Secondary School will not be attending this year's competition.

Netball Fiji President RubyAnn Sorovaki says netball in Fiji is only going to grow from strength to strength when affiliates organize competitions of this calibre.

She says it would be an exciting tournament after a 2 year lapse and congratulated Secondary Schools Netball for getting this tournament off the ground despite it being a busy school calendar year.

Adi Cakobau School is the defending Under 14 champion, and Suva Grammar School is the defending champion for the Under 15 to 19 grade.

Nabala Secondary School is the defending champion for the Open Grade, while Vunimono High School is the defending Boys Open Grade champion.

The Fiji Secondary Schools Netball Championship will be held next Thursday to Saturday at the National Netball Centre in Suva.
