The students from the Fiji School of Medicine Association lit up the FMF Gymnasium last night as they showcased traditional dances to mark the closing of its 140th anniversary celebrations.
While speaking at the event, Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro says the evening was both a cultural night and an anniversary celebration — a reunion of generations of healers, researchers, educators, and community leaders whose collective work has shaped Fiji’s health landscape, our nation, and the Blue Pacific Continent.
Radrodro also stated that it was a vibrant celebration of identity, heritage, and the cultural values that have long been intertwined with the practice of medicine in Pacific communities.
He adds that this deep cultural connection to well-being is itself a proud part of the institution’s history.
College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences representative, Dr. Amelia Turagabeci says culture is the heartbeat of our identity, reflected in our language, our dances, our music, our attire, and most importantly, in the way we live and share with one another.
