The Interim Chair of Fiji Rugby Football Union Trust Board, Peter Mazey confirms that Fiji Rugby is in serious debt, they currently find an amount of $3.5 million is owed to creditors, and with a review being undertaken by FRU auditors, the trustees are concerned the amount could increase.

When asked by fijivillage News whether Fiji Rugby is facing financial difficulties, Mazey says the trustees are putting in place a plan of action to address debt to ensure it does not affect all their ongoing obligations especially for our rugby teams.

He says they will be going out to all of Fiji to assist them in Fiji Rugby’s goals and help them to clear the debt, but first they must stabilize the situation to ensure it does not occur again.

Mazey says the biggest challenge is handling the debt, the next is reviewing everything to enable the trustees to set up a new structure to take Fiji Rugby forward, one they can proudly present to the rugby unions and everyone in Fiji.
