Fiji Pine Group of Companies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with 11 Provincial Rugby Teams representing Pine Landowners who will participate in the upcoming Skipper Cup and Vodafone Vanua Cup.

The unions include: Navosa Rugby Union, Nadroga Rugby Union, Nadi Rugby Union, Lautoka Rugby Union, Ba Rugby Union, Tavua Rugby Union, Ra Rugby Union, Nanukuloa Rugby Union, Bua Rugby Union, Macuata Rugby Union and Natewa Rugby Union.

Fiji Pine Executive Chairman, Ratu Rakuita Vakalalabure says their commitment to the landowners and communities is grounded in giving back to the people through sustainable forest management, where every harvested tree is replanted to ensure a thriving forest resource for future generations.

He says these sustainable practices not only protect the environment and maintain the value of landowner assets, but also create employment opportunities.

Ratu Rakuita says thousands of Fijians are employed directly and indirectly through operations in forestry, sawmilling, woodchip production, and downstream processing—generating income and economic stability for families.

He also highlighted that the company invests in landowner communities through initiatives such as village solar electrification, water projects, medical outreaches, and, most recently, the community Starlink internet Wi-Fi project to bridge the digital divide and connect remote villages to the world.

The Chairman further says that empowering youth through rugby and supporting provincial rugby unions helps build confidence, discipline, teamwork, and opportunities for young people to excel both locally and internationally.

He adds Fiji Pine is proud to stand with the landowners and Provincial Rugby Unions as they continue to build stronger communities, nurture future leaders, and ensure that forests and people thrive together.
