Fiji Cancer Society receives Mobile Laptop Ultrasound Machine to screen and diagnose prostate cancer

The Fiji Cancer Society has received a Mobile Laptop Ultrasound Machine worth $30,000 from Telecom Fiji Limited that will help them conduct screenings and diagnosing of prostate cancer effectively.

While receiving the donation, Permanent Secretary for Health Doctor James Fong says this high-quality equipment enhances the safety and accuracy of prostate cancer screening and diagnosis.

Dr. Fong says it enables healthcare providers to offer personalized and targeted treatments based on the specific characteristics of each patient’s prostate cancer.

He says this leads to improved patient outcomes and reduces the burden of prostate cancer on individuals and society.

Fiji Cancer Society CEO Belinda Chan says they are overwhelmed with the support from various donors and sponsors which allows them to continue their work.

Chan says the portable ultrasound machine was purchased following the tremendous success of the Fiji Cancer Charity Golf Tournament, which took place in October last year.

The society hopes that their support will continue again this year, to fight against cancer in our nations.

Chan says the Fiji Cancer Society does not receive any government funds to carry out their work, therefore they seek funds from other organizations to raise awareness and conduct screening activities in rural and outer islands.

National Sales Manager for TFL, Setareki Daulako says the company always believes in helping and providing services.

Daulako says the funds raised during the Golf tournament will benefit the lives of so many out there who are victims of cancer.

He says they will continue to support the Fiji Cancer Society in helping the lives of so many out there.
