Fiji 7s teams to the Olympic Games to be announced soon

The 12 member men’s and women’s national 7s teams for the Olympic Games in Japan this month will be announced soon by the Fiji Rugby Union.

The Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee released 21 names for the men's 7s team and 19 names for the women's 7s team this month.

Listed in the men's squad are two members from the team that won gold in Rio in 2016.

They are Jerry Tuwai and Kitione Taliga.

Other players included in the extended Olympics squad are Meli Derenalagi, Taniela Sadrugu, Kalione Nasoko, Waisea Nacuqu, Alasio Naduva, Josua Vakurunabili, Rusiate Nasove, Kavekini Tabu, Kaminieli Rasaku, Jiuta Wainiqolo, Sireli Maqala, Livai Ikanikoda, Napolioni Bolaca, Iosefo Masi, Asaeli Tuivuaka, Joseva Talacolo, Semi Radradra, Aminiasi Tuimaba and Vilimoni Botitu.

The women's squad includes Rusila Nagasau, Raijieli Daveua, Vani Buleki, Sesenieli Donu, Vasiti Solikoviti, Lavenia Tinai, Vitaieli Bulou, Lusia Tisolo, Ana Maria Roqica, Tokasa Seniyasi, Rejieli Uluinayau, Mereula Torooti, Lavena Cavuru, Viniana Riwai, Ana Naimasi, Roela Radiniyavuni, Aloesi Nakoci, Laisana Likuceva, and Reapi Uluinisau.

The Olympic Games Rugby 7s competition will be held from the 26th to the 31st of this month.

The Fiji men's 7s team is in Pool B with Great Britain, Canada and Japan while the Fijiana is in Pool B with Canada, France and Brazil.

The top two teams in each pool, plus the two third-placed teams with the highest point totals will qualify for the quarterfinals.

The fixtures will be released next week.
