Fiji Airways Men’s 7s Coach Gareth Baber has retained 11 of the 12 players who won in the Hamilton 7s last wekeend, with Apenisa Cakaubalavu to step into the squad, replacing Paula Dranisinukula.

Baber says Cakaubalavu has again proven himself on the field this week and he knows he can do the job he needs to do this weekend.

He says Dranisinukula will step back into 13th man this week as they manage the workload and return to full strength.

Baber says they will concentrate on one game at a time.

Meanwhile Gareth Baber says that Waisea Nacuqu and Aminiasi Tuimaba were sick during the week but have recovered now.

Speaking from Sydney, Baber says the two players had suffered from general fatigue.

He adds that due to the hot weather, they are having shorter training sessions to ensure that the players do not get fatigued or pick up or worsen any injuries they are carrying.

Baber says Nacuqu and Tuimaba were given sometime this week to recover and he is happy with the amount of time they spent on the field.

The Fiji squad for Sydney 7s: Mesulame Kunavula, Kalione Nasoko (captain), Sevuloni Mocenacagi, Meli Derenalagi, Josua Vakurinabili, Apenisa Cakaubalavu, Jerry Tuwai, Waisea Nacuqu, Terio Tamani, Vilimoni Botitu, Alasio Naduva and Aminiasi Tuimaba.

Fiji will face Japan in their first pool match of the Sydney 7s at 12.34pm tomorrow and meet England at 6pm while Fiji will play their last pool game against Samoa at 10pm tomorrow.

The Cup quarterfinals start at 1.16pm Sunday, the semifinals start at 5.16pm while the final will start at 9.56pm Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fijiana will play their first match against Canada in their first match of the Sydney 7s at 1.22pm today.
