An employee of the Valebasoga Tropik Boards Ltd Mill in Labasa who passed away after he was injured at the mill earlier yesterday afternoon is the father of the 13-year-old girl who was allegedly murdered at her home in Namara last month.

The girl’s grandfather, Munna Lal has confirmed that they have received the message that her father passed away earlier today.

Lal says they have been told that logs had fallen on the man.

Valebasoga Tropik Boards Ltd says the man was transported immediately to Labasa Hospital.

Police have confirmed they received a report from a doctor at Labasa Hospital and they are investigating.

Meanwhile, no arrests have been made in relation to the murder of the 13-year-old girl.

Police say they will release more information once significant progress has been made. People heard the girl scream on the night of July 22nd and upon checking on her, the landlord discovered her lying near the front door with visible stab wounds. The girl was home alone as her mother was yet to return from work.
