Families across the country are having small celebrations to remember Fiji’s 51 years of independence.

For many of the Hindu faith today has been dedicated to prayers as part of the eight day festival of Navratri.

Shayal Prasad of Sakoca settlement in Nasinu says as part of Navratri, they will be praying for the nation as a family.

She says they are celebrating Fiji Day as a family at their home in Sakoca.

They are looking forward to the Win Together Sweepstakes draw tonight.

Wailoku resident Avinay Karan says this year’s celebration is about remembering the good and challenging times Fiji has gone through.

Tovata resident Apimeleki Rayasi says even though it's a struggling time because of the pandemic, he has prepared something small for his family to celebrate Fiji Day.
