Faith, hope and love: Rabuka’s prayer for Fiji in the New Year

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka

I will not wish you a year without challenges, but I sincerely hope that 2025 will be a year of renewed strength, hope, and confidence to ensure prosperity and unity for our beloved nation.

This has been highlighted by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka in his New Year’s message, where he emphasized that with great optimism, positivity, and patriotism, we can all place our faith in Almighty God, our people, and our nation.

Rabuka says the first verse of Fiji’s national anthem inspires this sense of optimism and patriotism.

He says as the Fijian Vuvale, we celebrate the new year with a sense of renewed hope, forged through love and forgiveness, and aim to build a future based on unity and goodwill.

The Prime Minister also highlighted that 2025 will be a special year in Fiji’s history as the nation celebrates its Emerald Jubilee, the 55th anniversary of independence.

Rabuka also acknowledged civil servants, first responders, and members of the disciplined forces for ensuring the nation’s safety and upholding law and order throughout the year.

He also acknowledged those serving in peacekeeping duties in various conflict zones abroad, as well as those involved in humanitarian missions, including Fiji’s advanced team in Vanuatu, for their hard work and dedication.

The Prime Minister says the Coalition Government is establishing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to promote truth-telling, healing, and the restoration of relationships and social cohesion.

He adds on the international stage, the promotion of an Ocean of Peace remains a cornerstone of Fiji’s foreign policy.

By offering a prayer for all Fijians in the coming year Rabuka says faith that makes things possible, hope that makes things work, and love for one another makes life beautiful.
