The Fiji Rugby Union is disappointed that Flying Fijians players were not able to honour the wishes of their sponsors by not wearing the jersey with the message ‘Vaccinate Fiji’ in their match against the All Blacks last Saturday.

CEO, John O’Connor says some of the players had expressed concerns about having the message on the playing jerseys, and to accommodate those concerns and not compromise their focus, they decided to play with clean jerseys.

He says the main focus for the Flying Fijians was to put together a respectable performance in view of the challenges everyone was going through. O’Connor says the Vaccinate Fiji message was still prominent on LED signs during the match.

He adds they will discuss these concerns in the coming days with the playing group and with Fiji Airways, and decide how best to promote the Vaccinate Fiji message in this week’s test match.

He says they are proud of the performance of the team and expect a better feat in Hamilton.

Fiji will play the All Blacks at 7.05pm Saturday.
